The Yale Graduate Student Consulting Club is delighted to announce our 3rd Annual Consulting Case Competition, to be held at Yale’s premier conference facility, the Greenberg Conference Center, on Friday, April 4th, 2014. This year’s competition will feature teams from 10 top schools in the Northeast, who will have the opportunity to develop and present solutions to an exciting real-world business problem, compete for prize money and recognition, and network with professional consultants from our sponsoring firms, including: McKinsey & Co., The Boston Consulting Group, Clearview Healthcare Partners, L.E.K. Consulting, and Solution Providers.


1st Place Prize: $2,500
2nd Place Prize: $1,000


Competition Day Schedule:



Eligibility:

  • Graduate or Professional Student (PhD, MD, JD, or Non-MBA Masters) or Postdoctoral Fellow
  • Currently enrolled at: Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, NYU, Penn, Princeton, or Tufts
  • Interested in management consulting; business background is not required
  • Women and other underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply

The position of Managing Director (MD) of Activities will be available starting mid-June.

Mark Brown, the incumbent MD of Activities, will be stepping down soon. We would like to sincerely thank him for his contributions to the YGCC in the last year and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

The responsibilities of the MD of Activities will include:
- Organize and lead new events
- Improve and lead existing events
- Work closely with the Chair and Vice Chair on development of YGCC and its members

Dear YGCC Club Members,

We are happy to announce the 2014 Intensive Training Program (ITP). The program will take place from June 2nd to August 8th (10 weeks), and will be limited to 14 participants.

Participants will be selected through short (15 min) interviews. ITP is an excellent way to prepare for full-time interviews in the fall.

Content

  • 10 week program (June 2nd to August 8th)
  • 4 cases/week with dedicated partners and focus on case work up
  • Weekly group meetings for structured discussion of current business news and other readings relevant to management consulting
  • Structured FIT/PEI interview practice

Expectations

  • 15 hours per week: 4x 1.5h blocks for cases + 4x 1h to go over cases again + 2h per team meeting + 2-3h preparation for meetings
  • Minimum availability: 8 out of 10 weeks
  • Availability Tuesday 7-9 pm for team meetings
  • Give your best – we give our best to offer this program, we expect the same in return

Job Description

The Healthcare team within TechAtlas focuses on critically evaluating the technical landscapes surrounding select disease indications. Our Associates research high interest therapeutic areas and identify all the relevant technologies (e.g. drugs, devices, diagnostics, and procedures) that are currently being used or are in development. Ultimately, Associates are expected to truly understand the competitive landscape, produce a vision of how the market will likely unfold, and determine how companies are positioned to perform.

To accomplish this goal, Associates will need to demonstrate an ability to rapidly understand and clearly communicate complicated information. They will attend scientific and investor conferences, meet with companies, and interview experts (e.g. researchers, physicians, insurance company executives, regulatory consultants, etc.). When Associates have demonstrated commanding knowledge and understanding of particular subject matter, they will also have the opportunity to consult to clients who want to discuss a technical landscape in more detail.
